i have both doz 10 & paint shop pro 7. i can load pix from my D: drive with no problem. i can investigate other file locations later -- am about to run out the door.

are you trying to use the images still in the camera? on the camera chip? or have you already transferred them to a hard drive?

A problem I occasionally have is with the stupid cloud system Windows 10 uses. When I'm operating another computer system then click on the bottom left window icon, all the buttons don't show up at all.

After about a full minute of clicking on the icon, the other buttons show up. (Power button, file management, etc.)

That wait make me think the program is screwed up. But after clicking on the icon many times, it finally does show up.

That might be your problem. It has to go out and find whatever it needs.

Whenever I need,to shutdown fast, that extra minute makes pulling the plug very tempting!

Are you listening Mickeysoft developers? FIX IT!!!

I am sorry but the only reason I have ever connected a camera to a computer was to upgrade the camera firmware. I can not imagine why one would want to use the slow process of connecting camera to computer to import image files.

FYI:
Some of the newer cameras have USB 3.0 ports, which makes them as fast as using a USB 3.0 memory card reader unless you're talking about another type connection or your computer doesn't have 3.0 abilities. In that case the card itself is the speed on upload.

Another FYI: I personally don't connect my camera's directly to my computer simple because of two reasons.

1 - I find it easier just to use a memory card reader. (3.0 of course!)
2 - Why have additional wear-and-tear on my camera hatches and batteries.

(Well maybe three.)
3 - My computer has a 3.0 port built on the front. (no additional wires needed.)

Perhaps you need to upgrade your imagination!

Have you been through settings and turned off all the intrusive "cloudy" things that Microsoft set to on by default with Windows 10?

If not, that could possibly help....

If you have a Canon printer you can put the memory card in it and it will transfer to the computer.

Pictbridge? Could be a driver issue, either needing an updated driver for your printer or just checking all of the configuration setups for the printer and paintshop.

I hadn't heard of using a pictbridge printer to download images to a computer before.

Good luck

however, wikipedia entry on PaintShop Pro x7 says it is not compatible, I've send them a mgs asking if either x7 or x8 is compatible. Will post their answer... if I ever hear back.
btw, I got Adobe's attention by posting on their twitter. @AdobeCares

Whether people say something is not supported or don't say anything at all does not necessarily mean things do not work. One thing to confirm is if you have installed all the updates to PSP x7, having the latest version can make a difference. http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/updates/#psp-version-tab=0

As for the OP, other than using Pictbridge to connect his camera / memory cards to his printer and then download to his computer from the printer via PSP - which seems a little unusual to me - we don't yet know any other version details do we? That makes research a bit harder.

My old copy of PSP6 from the mid 90s works just fine!

Links to Canon are here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/windows

Perhaps patience is in order. W10 will very likely be successfully and adopted quite rapidly. Mr Softy has done a good job.

Other vendors may takes a while to catch up, so far everything is working well for me....

Supported, tested, works and doesn't work are all different things.

Patience can be a virtue....

I'm currently using Windows 10, and many of the devices mentioned in the e-mail work just fine, also Canon has posted updated software versions etc. in the last few days...

Be cautious, or be adventuresome, but so far things appear to work....
