When I set up my windows 10 . I turned off all that stuff that reported back to microsoft . It allowed you to turn off many things that wanted to report back to microsoft . I could see some people not sure what to do , so they left it with those boxes turned off . Most people should be able to understand the questions , and then decide to turn them off .It helps to be a computer repairman like me . Tommy

Since I installed Win10, I've been accumulating articles about it. I figure I'll set aside some time and go through all of them.

I found this article from Slate very helpful about all the many ways Windows 10 is set up to mine our data and how to turn it off during the installation:

The bigger problem is that the win 10 install killed my touchpad, and the pointer now has a flashing hourglass and locks up. I went back to win 8.1, which I dislike, but maybe I'll try agin next month.
