Thanks,

I had signed up for the download, I have Win 7 Pro, but received an error message that the Broadcam Virtual Wireless drivers were not compatible. Now the icon disappeared. downloading manual update version. Does anyone know of an update for the Broadcam Virtual Wireless drivers?

I also have win7 pro, 64 bit and the update icon.

Seeing more and more about the benefits of win 10 but I have seen little about how well win 10 will deal with the programs I now have installed. Seems to me one sentence said something like " may have some issues with... (my words)".

Those of you who have updated - what has your experience been with things like Quicken, DxOPro 10, PaintShop, Photoshop to name a few, and others?

What about legacy programs that I now use win7 virtual system to run?

I know enough about this stuff to recognize what I don't know and I'm expecting that if I do the update it may be a big challenge.

My laptop has win7 home - thinking about doing that first.

Updated 7 64bit pro this morning. Everything works just the way it should although it is faster.

CorelDraw x7 Suite
Photoshop CS6
Visual Studio !!!

are fine, nothing broken at all. I have been running Win 10 for about a year now on a Win 8.1 box without any issues but today is my first look at the new browser and photo apps, so I can't comment yet (but they look good)

Wow, the second link really looks complicated to a low knowledge computer guy like me. I would be hesitant to follow those directions and a $120 app is recommended. It will be a while before I take the 10 leap if all that is needed.

I tried the Microsoft stand alone download on my big pc because the upgrade Icon had disappeared.. The software went through the motions and attempted an upgrade and theoretically downloaded drivers.. It got to a point where I got no video display on my graphics accererator card so I let it run for 3 or 4 more hours with no joy. I rebooted and got a message that the upgrade had been aborted and it was restoring my Windows 7 OS. It did this last night and I now have everything back ALMOST the way it was.. The only difference is that now I have the "your upgrade is reserved and you will be notified when it is ready" icon back. It was a long ordeal to get it back, but I was impressed that it didn't mess up the computer. I have to give MS credit for that, in past upgrades, I would have been left doing a clean install of my old OS or doing a restore from my backup. By the way, I was upgrading from Windows 64bit Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro.

I have been using this release version for about 2 weeks now and all I have to say is DO NOT waste your time. Stay with Windows 7. Windows 10 at this point is full of bugs. Some things work and some thing sometimes work. The Windows 10 updates do not work correctly half the time and updates CAN NOT be turned off. In my opinion Windows 10 should never have been released in this condition. It is going to try a lot of patients and completely turn of others to Windows 10. At least wait until they get Windows 10 to function correctly. I personally went right back to Windows 7. Window 10 does nothing Windows 7 does not do and Windows 10 has lost a lot of functionality of Windows 7. I feel I would be better off with Windows 8.1 than Windows 10 at this point. At least Windows 8.1 worked ......

Haven't upgraded yet, however, having been in the software business I now wait at least 2-3 months of a new software release before doing the upgrade. Beside drivers, I'm most concerned if all of my software, plugins....will be fully compatible without me having spend headache time and money!

Unbelievable! Some of these responses are so ludicrous! No, there is nothing wrong with loading Win 10 on your system. Microsoft did a pretty good job of it this time. I will give you an example:

I overlaid Win 10 technical build over my Win 7 pro, 64 bit. It always irked me since Win 95 as to how many hoops I had to jump through to get my video cards working again every time I installed Windows on a new or upgraded system (I build gaming computers). So, I was expecting the same when I installed Win 10 on my own system.

Sure enough, when the Windows 10 technical build finished loading for the first time, my video was all screwed up. I use Nvidia cards mostly. I was expecting the worst. But nope! not this time. I went to do my usual thing and start in device manager to start the process of correcting things. I clicked on "update driver expecting to wait and wait and then have the usual error message. Not this time. One click and just a few seconds later, everything was just fine and rock solid. My Jaw about dropped. This could not be! Well, since that time and with every new build that came out, I never had to change a thing. Same thing with the audio.

There are also a lot of other cool things that Win 7 never did that is included in Win 10. I have also been reading these blogs written by so called "experts" telling about all of the pitfalls of Windows 10. They are so full of crap.

It has been two weeks now since Windows 10 Pro "real" version was installed on my computer and I have no problems. It is rock solid and has even more features than any of the technical builds (this is a normal Microsoft thing).

Yes, there are some technical things that I do not like (which are the same things that I found I did not like in Win 7), but these issues I have will never affect the average user.

You did ask a very good question. From a professional point of view, I would recommend you pull the trigger and go for it. If you do run into any issues, they should be easily correctable. One good thing I did see mentioned is that your system does need to be up to snuff, but if your are presently running Win 7 Pro 64 bit with no problems, you should be just fine. So far, Win 10 is much quicker and intuitive than Win 7.
