There is no need to set it up better, it is really good, even more so that it was unanticipated. It's great that you are making the decisions for the black and white. Just add a bit more shadow or black until the saddle is a bit more than a hint and the trailer will probably still not become to obvious, but the horse will darken up a bit as well and then the contrast will make her profile stand out better. Give is some play time and resend the changes. I am excited to see what you can do with this.

I think its great... I've never editied anyone's photo on here but did play around a bit...only problem is I don't remember exactly what i did...but thats my style.... experiment til it suits MY eye. I'm sure there are better edits .... but here's what I did (hope you don't mind)
db, that turned out great...nice work.
I love it ....the little sparkle fron the sequine draws U to Her face
I shall be honest and just admit that any image of a beautiful young lady like this is more than OK for me!
With forums that ask for 'critiques' there is often a strong temptation to turn that into 'criticisms' and some see that as an invitation to tell you what they see as 'wrong' with the image. But, I really like it.
Just as an observation I would say that this might be seen as a great image for a magazine advertisement for that jacket manufacturer!

Thank you! She has all her show shirts hand made for her. But if that woman ever makes it a business, I will definitely contact her about that!

Anyone who loves horses (like her & me) will love this picture! In fact, having part of the horse in it improves it ! :-) Wonderful shot. Excellent work

She is a beauty, and you're fine. Sometimes the humor on here comes at an inappropriate time but its all in good fun. Your photos are great... and as we all take more photos, studying each that came before, we find things we like to change. Its all about practice and adjusting. But the Bottom line should always be... If you are happy and like them, thats what matters most. TY for sharing ..
