Are you aware that the latest version of ProShow Producer has a library of "free" royalty-free music available? Of coarse you have to purchase ProShow first.
David B.
Proshow Gold also has royalty-free music in the latest version
Royalty free music, while now readily available, is rather uninteresting and typically unrelated to my content. I try to find music that is related to my subject matter -- often indigenous to the country being depicted. Given that the DVDs produced are strictly for my own private use, I don't need to worry about copyright restrictions.

Agreed on the uninteresting part- that's one problem.
Though they aren't sold, my programs get distributed and may be posted somewhere, so I need to be careful about copywrite.
Many years ago I tried to make decent travelogue slide shows for public presentation with PowerPoint. What a disaster! I soon found ProShow, and graduated from ProShow to Gold and finally to Producer. They are all superb products, and as with any sophisticated program there is a learning curve. But I think, given the flexibility and power of this set of programs, the learning curve is not bad.
I store my final shows on DVD or Blu-Ray, but always use the executable for presentation. It is more flexible and not dependent on other software like a blu-ray version would be. By executable I mean that the presentation is a free standing program which contains all images, music, videos, etc. It will run on any sufficiently powerful PC without having to install the editing software or run-time software.

The ProShow and Producer are like Photoshop Elements and Photoshop. You can do a fantastic work in ProShow or in Photoshop Elements. I would start in those programs and wait until I outgrow all those features offered. I will also ignore all those who say if you don't have a full blown Photoshop or Producer, you are a nobody. Go for a ProShow and you will be surprised what you will get for 70 bucks.
