Try it, You can always have it done by a pro. Your son thinks you can do it and if it works it will be a memory forever for you both. Did all 4 of my kids pictures, and they all like them.

Agreed! Give it a shot. Who knows. It might open new doors for you. It did for me!

I did my niece a few years ago. I let her go where ever she wanted to go and change clothes as many times as she wanted to and use what ever props she wanted. We took pics at haybarn, railroad tracks, old buildings, bridges the best one was playing in the creek. Things that fit her personality. She did not want the studio posed one.

You may find it difficult for him to be completely honest with you and vice versa. I think you need to have that understanding going in so there are no hard feelings later on.

Nothing Ventured - Nothing Gained. I started out the same way - - with my three daughters. I am by NO means a Pro - - however I fit the definition of a Rabid Hobbyist :-)
.
You've got time - - Shoot stuff for 4 - 6 weeks - - work with it - - see if your son likes it. If not - - do the pro shoot thing. However - you may find a setting that your son likes, and will have expanded your horizons !!

Hey Eva, You'll never know if you don't try. Have more confidence in yourself, definitely use a tripod, involve him in the process and you can fix a lot of the photographs later with software programs and last but not least "Pray".

My son wants me to take his senior pictures. Have always loved taking pictures, but not sure i can even call myself an amatuer. Just enjoy trying to capture things i find interesting on camera. Flowers, animals, landscapes, anyways could use some advice. I have a Nikon d200 a 30mm1:1.4 and a Nikkor 18x70 that came with the camera.

If your son wants you to take his picturers than do it. Do not listen to the wise asssses here. Just do it.

Thx :) All with a Canon 40D with Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 lens - shot RAW - slight tweaks in post.
