I bought my 1st Nikon in 1965 and still have all those very heavy lenses. If I wanted, I could still use them on my d7100 as I have on my F3 and F5. I know not A/f but they are sharp. Not many brands can say that, new body new lens mounts etc.

[quote=Leitz][quote=SharpShooter]Yes, there are Fords and there are Chevys, but those are NOT cameras, so it's pretty stupid to use that analogy.

Not sure what you're trying to say here, SS. YOU'RE the only one so far to bring up the Ford-Chevy analogy!

Sadly, I'm afraid your story is the rule rather than the exception - and perfectly describes the Nikon psyche.......
So all Nikon shooters are the same?

I don't know about that..... My 3 yr. old grandson found the limitations of one of my point and shoots when he wanted to take a picture of his first potty so he could show papa and dropped the camera.
I guess I should have at least shown him how to take the camera out of the case first.
Thank god the 5100 sitting next to it on the shelf with the 70-200 f2.8 attached was too heavy for him.

Yeah, if he took his meds he would have bought something else. LOL
You know, youre not alone.
Theres something about owning a Nikon. As a teenager, many decades ago, I salivated over pictures of Nikon cameras I saw in Popular Photography magazines. And many, many years later I bought one; a D7000. Loved it. Then a D610. Loved it, too.
Then Sony came around and had to spoil things. Bought the RX100; great! The a6000; fantastic. And am giving serous thought to the A7RII; but that may have to wait a good while.
The image quality of the two Sony cameras I mentioned is exceptionally good. BUT, theyre not a Nikon. Of course for me to think this way has no logic. Im thinking about selling my Nikons and moving completely over to Sony.
Every night I tell my self, tomorrow Ill try to sell the Nikon stuff.
BUT, I feel like Im switching faiths. Stop being a Catholic and being something else.
The other day I was telling my coworker how great of a car my wifes Lexus R350 is. Great SUV, all around. Yeah, but its not a Mercedes, he said. I got it. His point. Not the car.
While I think Ill be using my Sony equipment much more often than my Nikon stuff, just cant get my self to dump my Nikon beliefs.
Whatever floats your boat, no justification needed.
From my first SLR, a Pentax Spotmatic to getting the 1st generation Canon F1 back in 1971, against my Dad's recommendation that "Pros" only used Nikon. I now used a Panasonic GH4 4K micro 4/3rds (have two) and have NEVER looked back. :-)
