Too much clutter. It makes everything not interesting. I am speaking from experience here. Can you approach the subject from a better vantage point?

Going sepia did not help.

Looking forward to seeing your next effort Douglas. Are those the towers for the bridge between Duluth & Superior?

O.k. good. I did not want to offend you in any way. The last thing I need when I present something like this for critiquing is for some one to butter me up with false information. Believe me when I tell you that people do tell me when I stink the place up. It's part of the process.

No offense taken I think too many people have too thin of skin some times. That is how you learn. Other people see things that I don't until it is pointed out. Thank you

No it is the Minnesota side of Prescott, Wisconsin on the
Saint Criox River

I would suggest a circular polarizer as well. The blue sky seems a bit washed out. The polarizer will help deepen your colors.

Cool...I haven't been up to Duluth since I was a kid, I just remember there was a big bridge that's sort of famous up there. I have a number of relatives who are not far from where your pictures were taken, including a cousin who lives near the St. Croix in Stillwater.

And I second the suggestion for the circular polarizer. It can help make the sky really pop.

Have you tried getting below and shooting up at just one at a time? May go for the two close ones together also. That would eliminate a lot of clutter.

You can get a better photo if you are on the Prescott side. I have taken photos of that same bridge while in Prescott and they are sure a nicer view as you get very little clutter that way. Just some small trees and some cars, but if you time it right with the traffic lights the cars can be minimal. Try it on a sunnier day between noon and mid afternoon as I think that would work better this way you would have a little more natural light.

Douglas,
I presume these bridges are operational. It would be interesting to see them in operation. Find the better shooting point others are speaking of, put your camera on a tripod and shoot some long exposures showing the the bridge opening and or closing. Can you shoot ltowrd the evening. You might come up with something very interesting.l

Roger, I saw your post wondering if the bridge is still operational. It is operational during shipping and boating season. Shipping season officially opened last weekend so there is times when it will be raised. The railroad still uses the bridge too.

[Photo Guy,
With the bridge being operational, there must be navigation light on the bridge. Shoot the bridge towards evening whenthe lights are on and the bridge is operating. I'm guessing that the trails the navigation lights would make on a long exposure might look very interesting. Quite often when I'm shooting architectureq shots for a client and the building is less than visually interesting, I will shoot around early evening making sure the interior lights are on. The building takes on a warm glow that is very inviting. Last week I shot a YMCA building that was as visually exciting as paint drying. We turned on lights and I put lights in the 2nd story to look appealing. In some of my exposures there were cars driving in front of the building giving me light trails thus giving the impression of a busy place. The Y director loves the shots!uote=photo guy]

If the op would like, I would be more than happy to post a few of the photos I have taken of that bridge as examples for him. I do remember seeing only a couple of small lights on top due to the height and some regular lights on the sides of it for night time use or cloudy conditions.
