A Common Grackle is a bird long awaited for as to us it is a harbinger of spring. A sign that spring is indeed coming. this year this species first showed up in Bird Alley just a couple of days ago on the first day of spring! This photo was taken yesterday.

A little favourite bird visitor to our bird feeders is the Red-breasted Nuthatch. We haven't seen much of this species all winter but it showed up in Bird Alley on the last day of winter. Welcome little bird! Soon it will be butterfly season and as a reminder of this season here is a beautiful White Admiral butterfly to enjoy viewing.!

Fred Ann, I love these photos..they are very good and special for me because I have never seen a grackle...

My birds haven't been as plentiful as they normally are,but I still have my cardinals titmice, chickadees, and then there is the pesky cowbird.

Welcome to Day 82 .. Lately everybody has been posting a lot of closeups of flowers ..so I thought today we would do some closeups of critters. 2 legged, 4 legged, 8 legged .. makes no difference. They can be an accidental capture of flying critters ...I seem to get a lot of those... or pet portraits.. if it's a non-human animal and it finds it way in front of the camera ... let's see it.. up close and personal.
Here are a few examples to get us started.

Wow! What a great subject! Looks like everyone is having a great time with it! There are many great shots submitted! I really enjoyed going through them to see what everyone likes to do and the critters they love! Your pictures that started this all going were fabulous! I'm jealous! :-) I am submitting a few to view. Thanks again for all you do!

Here is mine for the day.
Fred JR., a lizard who makes his home in my flowerbed and under my steps

and a Candaian goose in flight.. and a gulf Fritillary butterfly.
The goose photo was taken in Tennesse at the Natchez Trace Parkway reserve. I had been sitting waiting and waiting for the geese to fly. Decided They weren't going to take off so I gathered all my stuff ,tripod ,chair, camera and camera bag up and started back to the cabin. I just happened to turn to the left a bit and there he came.
