This whole thing is getting a bit biblical.... My neighbor's started building a really big boat in his backyard.... :) The Trinity is normally about 20' wide in both of these locations.... 70% chance of more heavy rain tonight.... I've received 4 Extreme Threat alert / Flash Flood Warnings on my phone since midnight last night..... Here's a link to a U.S. Army Corp of Engineers PDF about the building of the Dallas Levee system....

You're in Texas and you're complaining about free water falling from the sky?

Yeah, but we don't get hit this hard very often... every winter in Boston is a survivalist ordeal! :)

The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge known affectionately as 'Large Marge' is a favorite among local photogs.... Spectacular lighting at night.... Originally known as the 'Bridge to Nowhere' it has spawned a rebirth of specialty shops and restraunts in an old warehouse district.... If you build it, they will come.... :)

You would think so... & we were actually at drought levels in area lakes 4 weeks ago. The series of heavy thunderstorms, flash flooding & tornadoes we have gotten since then is unprecedented as far back as I can remember & I've lived here 60+ years... The lakes are now 10'+ on the levels and many topping their banks and flooding low lying areas.... The Trinity is at stage 3 and rising... At stage 5 it tops the levees and katy bar the door!!!!

Tucson or here I would not want to see This Month:10.31 in Year to Date Total:29.28 in with 3 in Saturday night.
Dessert can not cope with that and very few other places included. First 5 months is 5-6 times our annual precip.

Very nice shots, ajohnston. If your neighbor is measuring his boat in cubits, I suggest you pair up and climb aboard!

Such a lot of water. I hope you are safe from flooding. Too bad it can't be wished away to the drought areas.

Hang in there! It's moving to my area this week. Forecast is seven straight days of rain. On the bright side, your drought is over and you don't live in California. Or me, either.
