A puerile comment. But, I won't argue with a fool. He will only drag me down to his level.

BTW, did you mean "off topic"?

I bought a nice clean looking Soviet FED at a camera swap (boot sale). Some were good; some were bad. Quality assurance was not a company priority. It was the only camera I have ever thrown in the garbage!

I started thinking about my opinions of several of the myriad of cameras I've owned. Although, I thought (and still think) it was an excellent camera, the Mamiya RB67 was one of the most frustrating cameras I ever owned; I took more unintentional multiple exposure pictures than any other camera I've ever had. Fortunately the RZ67 solved the film advance problem I had with the RB.

jackinthebox seems obsessed with drugs and alcohol, perhaps that indicates something.

Let me put this as simply as possible, in words you can understand:

You are a pompous self righteous jerk! But you are correct; your vitriol (and probably our responses) belong in the attic. May I remind you however that this entire misuse of a good topic began with your snide remarks about the personal behavior of a member of this forum, specifically your accusation concerning the use of alcohol and drugs. After a comment that caused another member emotional pain, you were unable to summon anything beyond the most basic (and, I suspect, insincere) responses.

As for your first sentence, I have no doubt that, but for the grace of God, I am destined to such a fate; I'll see you there.

BTW, the word is "straight"......

I'm with Banjonut - worst camera I ever had was the Kodak Disc camera, hands down.

My second DSLR, D5000, is my most hated camera. Way to much noise above 800 ISO and to many adjustments had to be done through menus.

Thank you Norman for the interesting look back! The camera name brought up a lot of memories!
Practica FX was also my first SLR camera I bought in the mid Fifties. It looked different, attractive and was a pretty revolutionary, affordable SLR camera design, with Tesar, f 2.8 lens - comparing with my pre-war Voightlander 6x6 format camera.
The manufacturer the Kamera Werke (KW) Dresden after the war brought up the revived pre-war SLR design (with Pentacon and Exakta Varex) and the cameras were an immediate success!
I enjoyed Practica FX for several years and only sometimes later was debating whether to buy - that time the most famous Exacta Varex camera or Praktina IIa. Praktina IIa for its highly efficient modern design was my choice.
I still own two bodies in good working condition resting with several lenses in my small photographic museum. Both cameras Practica and the two Praktinas IIa (with Flexon f 50mm 2.0 lens) worked fine for all those years getting through hundreds of Kodachrome 25 and Ilford TriX rolls without any problem.
I used both Praktinas until the Seventies when I switched to Canon F1 SLR cameras and larger formats - but that would be another story.
Cheers!

I didn't start this, but in the interests of the thread, the forum and my own limits of tolerance, I'll end it right now. Have a nice day - and I do mean that!

UNWATCH!

Sounds like you are waxing nostalgic, as I sometimes do.
So did you like it or hate it?
I remember looking at ads in Popular or Modern Photography magazines back in the late '60's for the Practina cameras before I bought my first SLR, which I think was a Topcon Unirex.

Thank you for that history, Paul! I love learning more about our hobby and how it evolved. In retrospect, I now think that I must have gotten one of the very few lemon Praktica SLR's, everyone else seemed to have had good experiences with them. Every roll of film I tried was a loss, and when the man at the camera store put the shutter speed at 1/30 with the back open, clicked the shutter, and it remained open for around a half second, they immediately refunded my money. I have never had another camera now other than Nikon. I am a little envious of others that have had so many different brands to explore. But I am very happy with my Nikon. ;-)
