Here is how I control aphids.

I will have to go looking for aphids now. Do those awful orange ladybugs eat aphids? It would give me a reason to like them better.

Yep that's what I said, I'm new at all this and want to photograph everything, never thought I couldn't wait to see dandelions either :D

Eeewwwwww!!! I hope "in hiding" is far away from me and I don't have to worry about these critters anytime soon!! We have the ants that 'herd' the aphids and keep most of them under control. Now, I have to get a flashlight and go check my rosebushes!!!!

But, I have to say....your photograph does make the little buggers look interesting.

Was it shaped like a shield? Looks like the back side of a stink bug to me.

Yes they do eat aphids. You can buy a container with about 2000 lady bugs in it for about $10. We did it and within a few days the aphids were gone and then the lady bugs flew off to find more.
