Prominent Egyptian TV presenter Tawfik Okasha called on Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu over the weekend to bomb Iran – and promised Egyptian support for "our dear friend Netanyahu,"

Okasha said. "Please, Iran faces you and the Bushehr reactor faces you. Put your trust in Allah and bomb it. We are with you. And if you need fuel for the jets, we will give it to you."

============
Comment: A situation of lunatics seeking nukes makes for strange partners, especially in the Middle East. Egypt, remember, launched wars of extermination against Israel in 1948 and 1967 and 1973, as well as causing another war by seizing the Suez Canal. Now Egyptians are openly siding with Israel against a terrorist-supporting, wants to be nuclear, Iran.

Or worldwide tyranny imposed by a lunatic strictly-Muslim nuclear regime. Confront it now, or accept a new version of the dark ages.

What was it that Neville Chamberlain said in the 30's?

"This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine.... We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement, as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again."

As with your own perceptive post, some very smart people have compared Obama's appeasement of Iran (and violent Islam more generally) to Chamberlain's misguided actions which led to WWII. Had Hitler been confronted while he was still weak, things would have been very different.

History really does repeat itself. Different players but the same type of situation. I h**e war, but I love freedom more. At some point we will have to face this threat. I think the longer we delay it, the stronger they'll get and we'll spend more lives and treasure attempting to defend ourselves. When NYC disappears in a nuclear blast will that be the Pearl Harbor of our century?

It's not just a standing military force, but it is the will to use it to it's fullest potential. Lately we haven't demonstrated this to instill the fear of defeat to those that want to pick a fight with us.

Cause its been maybe a police action; to occupy or disrupt and cause chaos. The last time we probably fought a war to win was WWII.
Im not a true military historian but I am guessing I mughtr be correct.
