HQ burst should be only used when shooting a moving subject (person or moving vehicle), if it a still photo it should be off, the feature is good, but only for moving subjects that I mentioned.

& continuous you have to find it & put it on singe mode when you are shooting single subjects, when you are using flash, make sure that it on singe mode or flash wont fire.

after re-reading this thread, it dawned on me that I really don't know what SERVO is!!! what does it do and why should it be on or off?

SERVO is where you're shooting moving subjects, whether its a car or truck, or train, or people moving or or moving objects, that's what's it for a good tool to use on any camera that has this feature.

thanks for the explanation - so then is it a good idea to keep it on all the time seeing as you never know when you're going to be encountering something moving - lol!

Not all the time if you're doing still shots mainly indoor, the flash may not fire, so keep servo off unless subject is moving.
