I am just learning how to adjust my photos using PSE 8.0 and how to change in camera and in PS. And trying to learn as much as possible in LR 4 Beta before it ends at the end of month. Any C&C welcomed as this is how I learn best, by hands on and that keeps me learning more. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Don't hold back as I learn best by being critiqued.

Sorry if there are dup's , these old fingers and eyes sometimes don't coincide with the key board.

On the first one, I think you got them mixed up. The first one is the better of the two. On the tree picture, I think you went a little to far. The whites are blown out. But not bad for your PP work. Keep trying. It is fun to play. Do you look at a full screen shot of the picture when you get done working on them? I found if I do this all my mistakes show up.

agree with Erv regarding pic #1 - it is the more interesting of the two and I'd have liked it much better had the barn NOT been a part of the pic because then you would have had nice lines......

Editing after the fact is not intended to eliminate the need to expose more accuratly in the first place.

Keep at it - you'll find your sweet spot!

Thanks for the advice, I'll try another one of these shots and leave out the barn, and maybe include what I was shooting at with the pic. Thanks for everything. This is why I joined UHH, for the refinement of pro's who will give it to you straight. Thanks alot will see if we get any more snow here in Wis. I have more I took earlier I will post them under the same heading later.

Thank you, English Wolf, for reinforcing my decision to stop posting pics on UHH. I have looked at two straight posts where your sole comment is "Does not belong here". This used to be simple. Now, without suggestions on where these posts should be, you just jump on the OP. I would love to continue to get feedback, but don't need some *** telling me I'm too stupid to post in the right place (without telling me what the right place is). If the goal is to reduce participation, you are more than meeting your goal. And, btw, I see no lines to read between and no smileys, so I am stuck with the terse directive.

ramblin'21 - I see no reason for you to apologize. I like the first pic before the modification, with the barn. As a resident of Phoenix, I like to look at images of winter (and, secretly enjoying the sunshine and 80 degrees). Keep up the good work, and keep working on learning PP.

I agree with Libbypics wholeheartedly. These are people asking for advise, and probably relatively new at whatever aspect of photography they are working with. There is no need to come in here and post "angry little gremlins" and make comments like that. If you can't give constructive criticism and encouragement, please keep your comments to yourself. I would encourage everyone to post their pictures here for critique and help with their work.

Then go back to the drawing board on criticizing my post.

If you folks learned the features and orientations of every forum you would enjoy UHH much more.

This is not a C&C forum, this photo analysis and as I stated many time, this is not about oooh, ahhh or 'you should do that' this about: 'I had a weird result while doing this. I do not know why. Do you? What is the correction?

This is also about offering a picture and giving a tutorial on how to take a picture with the same effect.

The same applies for post processing.

So, Libbypics, please leave you hidden insults at home, even if they leave a bitter taste in your maw. Learn the UHH forum rules as they are different for each.

Conclusion: Instead of jumping the emotional gun, ask your self why this *** (as you described me) is saying something like that and consult the rules.

Gee, English Wolf, I enjoyed UHH a lot more before the 'forum police' dictators took over. There are polite ways to say, "You should have posted this in ------ forum", rather than the imperial "Doesn't belong here". I don't know who died and made you boss, but you, and your equally rude buddy Nikonian72 have chased me away. I will get my photo advice elsewhere, where folks are treated with respect rather than the "I am better than you" attitude you display. Also, learn to proofread your posts before hitting Send, so you don't look so stupid. Re-read your rant to me and maybe you will find the two errors that make you sound illiterate. Also note the personal insults are not hidden here. I don't feel the need to hide. I am secure in my skin.

To other UHH folks, like photogrl57, MTShooter, and many others, I will miss your good work and advice, but I can no longer afford to waste valuable time during the day reading the dictates of English Wolf and Nikonian72 directed toward new users who are just trying to get help. I will really miss Ivan's Alaska photos, especially the eagles.

I have enjoyed my short time here, but don't need the abuse.

Abuse? I did not know you existed until you posted and then I was polite with you, did not resort to abusive language or insults.

As I said, lay off the emotional trigger.

libbypics - don't let a few keep you from all the good available on UHH. Just use your mental remote in the future and don't read the avitars you want to avoid. One thing for sure, we can all use a little more love.

Hey, folks - please don't take the joy out of this section (or any other, for that matter) by all of the back-and-forth bickering that seems to be increasing in frequency on UHH. Was anyone physically threatened by the postings here? Was national security breached? Will the sun rise tomorrow as hoped for? Good - I thought not. Why not let all of us just enjoy the brotherhood (and sisterhood) of photographers doing what they like and simply asking for a little (+/-) feedback. Is that too much to ask? If I have to peruse a "rulebook" in order to participate in what I would think is pretty easily figured out by the average adult (and most kindergardners), then I will cease reading, posting and/or enjoying this forum.

hmm, the histogram (at least in pse10) doesn't show any whites blown out when I looked at it.. the highest value I saw was 242 and it didn't run into the 'wall' on the right side.

the pix did need some contrast added though.
