I have used it as a stand alone but prefer using it with PSE. It can be used as a plug-in from other programs also. Available for windows and Mac.

Below is an original and then with noise reduced. What I like about it is I can choose the area I want to reduce noise on instead of the whole photo.

I see a Lot of noise in the Bird in both shots.

I have seen a lot of posts on here about Topaz denoise. I use LR / Photoshop CC. I do a lot of indoor youth sports, including Volleyball and Basketball. Many times I have to set ISO at 2000 and above, using a D800 and 24 - 70 2.8 or 70 - 200 2.8.

This result in a lot of noise and I have a difficult time removing it in LR or Photoshop that does not soften it too much. Appreciate any input you hoggers could give me whether I should purchase the Topaz Denoise program?

Thanks for you advice.

I have seen a lot of posts on here about Topaz den... (show quote)

Just to summarize what I am seeing in this thread, a lot of users like Topaz Denoise. Neat image, and others are also mentioned. I have used Topaz Denoise, I have used Neat Image, I have used a number of others also. For easy jobs, I just use Lightroom.

But there is one that is absolutely head and shoulders above the others and that is DxO Optics Pro, Elite version. If the shot is in RAW format, and if DxO has first shot at the file, its Prime Noise Removal's ability to remove the noise without affecting detail is beyond what the others can do by a long, long margin. It is very mathematical in its approach. It takes a long time to process an image, especially on a slower computer. I use an 8 core 3.5GHz PC and the time is in the order of just a couple seconds most of the time.

It is so good that pushing the ISO is not really a concern anymore.
