Technically, you're right, of course, as it is with any software. But, with all the money invested in my photography equipment, the price is small to get the best.

That's fair. Everyone has one. If we're happy with what we have, then there's no reason for change.

Polarr is a pretty lightweight editor and there is no desk/laptop version available. It functions as a cloud application although if you use Google Chrome you can add the app to your Chrome desktop as an app download from the Chrome Store.

I played around with it and it is no substitute for Photoshop, however, for someone who wants something better than bare bones it is probably fine and yes, free.

You will want to make sure you back up any photos you PP with Polarr onto a local hard drive.

I am sure someone else will tell you too, but you can buy lightroom.

I own a copy as do many others.

Just google Adobe Lightroom Software and several places have it for sale. No program can keep up with newer camera raw files, all of them must come out with a converter for new cameras. The software cannot know what converter they need until the camera is already out and that includes web based programs.

Fuggedaboudit! I tried their regular editor first. Long time loading, tedious process (you're asked to choose 1 of 6 pic, same subject ..... 10 time! When finished the only option I had was to "share" my settings w/other users (nuh - uh!). Then, after about 7-10 minutes I got ........ "Sorry - can't load web page". Started over ......... same results!

What? You "can" do the CC version of photoshop and LR, but as far as I've heard, LR 6 which is due out any time, will offer the program on a disk (which you don't "own" either, it is just a perpetual license)

If you don't need, or want to do the CC options of adobe products, they you probably can get away with any number of programs. Those of us that shoot for money, almost NEED to stay current. The advancements in photoshop in the last few years have saved me countless hours. The most expensive part of what any of us do is in our time.

I just don't understand why, if you don't want to "rent" the program, it is so important to you to bash the program.

I choose not to eat at McDonalds, I haven't gone there in years, but I don't use every chance I get to bash the place online. I figure you are smart enough to make your own decisions.

Ya, it is important to bash the program, pay backs are hell, and I'm still pissed, Abobe have cost me a lot of time and money, and I have made My decision NOT to use Adobe products ever again.

I want everybody to know I HATE LIGHTROOM, if you like or anybody else likes it that is fine with me, what ever floats your boat.

I do eat at McDonald's.

  Lightroom and Photoshop are both GREAT PP programs, if you know how to use them. I have a friend who did not like lightroom and then he took a class and along with my help, he learned how to use it. Now that he knows how to use it, he LOVES it.

Much of the software today is going toward a monthly fee model, Microsoft included. We actually do buy the program, but we have to pay monthly for the right to use all of its features. Things change and we get to choose to either keep up and move on or dig our heels into the sand and balk. For most of us who are older we can name a long list of things we have seen "come in" and also "go out." It's just part of life.
