Thanks Judy, I don't think you saw the third shot, your post came up before I loaded it completely. It is an amazing place.

Urg. I wish the shots wouldn't show up till you are ready to make them show up. I remember on Facebook doing my shots and then organizing them and wording them and POOF! they are showing up before I was finished.
Love the 3rd one!

We are 6 hours from there. Hope to get there this year. Last year our plans fell through cuz there was so much snow and ice so we went to southern Utah instead.

There are lots of pools with buffalo bones in them. The buffalo are heavy and fall through the thin crust and get cooked before they can get out. This happens to people too, but not in several years.

Water boils at 212 degrees, and they are boiling with high mineral content. Some of the geyser pools have had temps recorded at almost 600 degrees.

MT: Is there any sulfer or mineral smell around the pools or geysers?

Almost all of the park within the caldera rim has a lingering sulpher smell, It is a volcano. The areas around the hot pots and boiling pools have a stronger smell. The worst is probably Devils Cauldron, its really bad around there.

Don't get them wet. Most barriers keep you far enough away from the spray to avoid it, but wind and the occasional gas burp will still get you wet at times.
