Upper Falls of the Yellowstone, you don't see this one much, but everybody shoots the Lower Falls, they are much more spectacular. I managed to catch an eagle landing in a tree in this one and never saw it until tonight, 20 years later!

Yes, it doesn't attract a lot of attention, everybody is usually in a hurry to get to the big parking lot for the lower falls.
Another great excursion is to take the Uncle Toms trail down to the bottom of the lower falls, its like a whole different world down there.

Looking for the eagle is like "Looking for Waldo" so I see how you could miss it. Nice shot as usual and sometimes we even fool ourselves.......

It can be. I was going to take that eagle out thinking it was a scan artifact until I zoomed in on it, decided to leave him be. Glad you like the shot.

Huff and puff down and back unless you are in REALLY good shape.

A sky crane would be good. Hook 'em up and lift 'em out. Going down is not so bad.

Nice. The upper falls are harder to shoot also. Always a lot of shadows & reflections. Usually a good place for Marmots too.I read a story once about a guy who hiked to the bottom before there was an Uncle Tom's Trail. spent the night at the bottom of the falls and then hiked back out. He was almost deaf I would imagine. cold & wet too. A long long time ago.

Thanks for the comment.
That had to be a VERY long time ago, that trail was built in the 1890's. Been updated many times since then though. Several rest stop spots along the route now too. The roar of the falls is almost deafening down there, and there is no way to escape the mist and spray. Anyone camping down there had to be pretty miserable all night long!
