I might have bought from you...(small world if so). I don't remember from whom I purchased my 1st version of AC from, I think it was version 2.5 or 2.8, to long ago....I know I bought all my HP Plotters from HP in Paramus and Rochelle PK, NJ. Back in 90's to 2005. I may have delt a time or two with Robotech in Hoboken. Now with subscriptions, I don't have to go anywhere. I've gone through/used more cad packages than I care to remember. From the original Data Cad, Pro E, Solid Works , even took Cati-Dessualt for a whirl for engineering projects, AC Revit, Chief Architect and Achicad for my Architectural projects. Remember when it was JUST AutoCad ARC & MEC. :)

Ah, Arnie in Paramus. I was selling it when it came on 2 5.25" floppy disks, and the documentation was in a three ringed loose-leaf binder. Version 1.2 I believe. I was also a SolidWorks dealer for a short while. I built and customized all of the systems I sold - a total of 2,500 systems over a 20 yr period. Used the $600 Tecmar Graphics Master for 16 color 640x480 display, to a $3000 Verticon graphics cards to display 256 colors at 1024x768 resolution. And later Artist Graphics, Matrox and ATI graphics cards. I also remember installing the "math co-processor" alongside the cpu so Autocad could run.

Yup, I recall um all...even 2-5.25 drives was the cats meow. 2 monitors with the 2nd being Mono (such a pretty glow of orange) for the text, typing commands and reading Cartesian coordinates, etc... I recall when my wife got an original Commodore 64 as a Christmas bonus from her employer, I wrote my first basic program on it to draw a rectangle...that was it, I was hooked on Cad (not even sure if it was an acronym that far back)...after years of manual drafting, I'm thinking wouldn't it be great if I could do all my drawings on computers, next was the IBM 286 XT, w/a QuadCrome monitor, 20 mb hard drive, they told me I wouldn't fill it in a lifetime. HAA! I knew then where Computers/cad was headed...look where we are today, Photo Realistic fly throughs...
I'd be pretty surprised if I haven't at some point back in the infancy of AutoCad/DOSs/Cad run into you. I knew most everyone in my area that had anything to do with cad. Went to probably every CADD show. Heck I started writing Lisp routines to fellow caddy's...and almost got suckered into teaching AC at the Computer school next to New Berries (at Bergen Mall) for $12.00 an hour, beating out some 20 candidates, thinking I'd be making a fortune. Another Ha moment. Any way, sorry bout rambling, nothing like stirring up old memories..salute to computer graphics.

Yes, couldn't think of the name....I think QuadCrome was another popular one.....So, Gene...I just got a quote on a laptop configuration, Do you have time to take a look? I'd be curious to see what you think. And perhaps you have any advice to get the price down...
Thanks,
Doug

Send me a PM with the config - I'll take a look - as a "professional courtesy" :)
