Didn't even suggest I knew anyone else's wife. Since this is supposed to be a friendly forum I will not respond to your insult :D

The 70 to 200 @f2.8 is wonderful get some loose clothing and a cheeky smile to put his mind into some think else it will work on any red blooded man (LOL)

I just bought 2 new lenses and I managed to get them into the house & hidden while my husband was visiting his sister. I put the 24-70/2.8 on my camera right away. It is a "little" bigger than the 18-140 I had on the camera but I don't think he'll actually notice. BUT, how will I explain that big 70-200/2.8 when I pull it out & put it on the camera? He WILL notice that! Birthday present? Right now, I'm trying to talk him into a trip to Ireland! Then I can justify the lenses!!?!!!?

You're a gal after my own heart. My husband made the mistake of telling me re my camera purchases, if I could carry it, I could buy it! You wouldn't believe what I could carry!
Actually, it might be best if we kept our hiding and stealth secrets to ourselves so that the guys on this site won't become suspicious of their wives and give away their secrets!

Doesn't sound like the kind of relationship I have in my marriage. First you something behind his back because you think he might not like it, then you want to schmooze him into taking you to Ireland.

Sorry, I can't give you any advice on this one except you should rethink your relationship and the trust you put in each other.

I had to put a black lens coat on my 70-200 for a while.
If he doesn't want to do the Ireland trip I have my bags ready!,

And at some point he will realize the light at the end of the tunnel is a train. Lol

Grandma...we both bought the same lenses. I hope you got yours on the Nikon sale, too!! That 70-200mm f2.8 is a tank, isn't it? I think I'm going to have the camera shop fine tune mine for me.

Next on my list is a 1.4x teleconverter which will make one lens a 36-98mm and the other a 98-280.

You guys have no creativity.
I bought about a hundred big whites lenses(Canon) and a dozen of those new 50mp cameras to go with them and got rid of all the kids inheritance in one fell swoop!!
My wife never liked the neighbors. So I bought a new house with better neighbors, piled all the camera gear into one of the rooms, then I annouced, "we're movinig"!!!
I not only looked like a HEROE, I got lucky twice a day for two months and didn't have to sneak in anything!!!!
Desperation is the mother of invention!!

Wow, it's usually the other way around. My system for cameras is to always buy black SLR style and never take out more than 2 at a time.
It also reminds me of a saying I think I saw on here before..'When I die I hope my wife doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it'.

I usually don't have a problem with having to sneak photographic gear into the house. My wife and I usually have worked the issue out ahead of time. That may mean me making the case for a second or third camera; another similar lens but one that l learned is better. She often knows I am going to make a purchase ahead, or other times right after buying something used on eBay or Amazon, I'll say "Honey I just bought such and such...". We may have a problem when I want to buy a Full Frame camera as she is not totally convinced of my need for one. Though I can make the argument that I will not need to buy a lot of new lenses for it because I have so many older "film" lenses that I could use for it -- which is true -- and not so much have GAS for more useful focal lengths for my Pentax cropped factor bodies -- which is also true. So GAS does not give me a lot of gas. Some used cameras she would love if I could afford them, say a Rolleiflex 2.25", Leica M_. I in fact bough her an old used film Pentax Spotmatic system from a friend. I've used a few of the lenses but she has not used the camera more than once herself. She was even OK with me buying a used 4x5" Wooden Field camera. So at least she appreciates cameras to some extent. But we will see what happens if Pentax really does put out a FF camera later this year. (otherwise I may have to sneak in a K5IIs or K3 for myself).

On the other had both my wife and I seem to have a DAS problem. That is Dog Acquisition Syndrome.

I hate to admit this, but my wife wanted a nice radio for the kitchen, so I decided to get her one of those Bose wave radios for Christmas. I got it free in fact!! All I had to do was buy a Bose Lifestyle System for me. I hid that one at a neighbor's and snuck it in after Christmas!!

That "...he doesn't have any hobbies", Grandma, is a real stretcher! All guys need something to play with otherwise you'd go crazy with them around the house and under foot all the time. In my case the toys are my boat and camera (singular)!

Sad, but true, & I actually like him around the house. I guess his hobby is the house. He vacuums it, mops its floors, cleans its bathrooms, works in the yard, does laundry, & shops for groceries to put in the house. For that I make him gourmet meals & invite his family over to enjoy them too. For fun, he has me, his paper & solitaire on the computer (in that order). He went to the store, & came home with a plug...total cost? $2.10. See what I mean?

That's what we do! Think of it this way. You got her the radio & the price it would have cost was the discount on YOUR system. I'm surprised you could sneak that in the house.
