The icon on your desktop is to start Perefect Effects 9 as a standalone application.

I use it both ways. I can open it as a stand alone or use it as a plug in. More often than not, I use it as a plug in via LR5. I'll add that I think it is a great program.

It also installs (The completr\e suite) as a plugin in both PSE and PS

Does Perfect Effects 9 run independent of lightroom or can it be downloaded or moved from the desktop into it?

I have it on my desktop but could have sworn I watched a video where it was installed directly into lightroom on the left side panel under navigation.

probably both. I use it with and without Photoshop elements 12

Well PSE-10 (mine is valid) is a step below what they recommend. PSE11 and up. But should install according to net.

Mine downloaded as a standalone. OK.
If you can not find it go into C:/programs and see if OnOne is there... or ... go to start and in search type OnOne.

If you are downloading from OnOne, I doubt that they would have a virus. Just a confident that Sony would never have a virus (NOT).

well that is not entirely accurate...

if you download the FREE PERFECT EFFECTS 9 (without the full suite) and an icon appears on your desktop when you Dclick it just opens the program with quite a few wonderful presets. As indicated you can access the presets by dragging an image in to the opened PEffects 9, or get to it from Lightroom via the file menu.

If on the other hand you download a collection of FREE presets from the On1 site what you say is accurate. You can then extract them from the zip file, upload them into lightroom ( I have yet to try to get them into Elements 13)
and access them through the develop module under presets.
Took me all day to figure this out with the excellent help and support of Minniev

Hi Dan....from what I read in this entire post is you somewhat needing to better understand computer lingo. All of these PS9 presets come to you as a compressed file, to save space.....and this process is called a Zip file. All one needs to do in PS9 is to DD Click that Zip file and PS9 will prompt you automatically for installation. Once they are installed, they are available in LR, PS and PSE.

However, PS9 Suite can be used as a stand alone app. Better yet, onOne has wonderful and user friendly videos for your perusal. Enjoy.
Hi Dan....from what I read in this entire post is ... (show quote)
