Newbie question. Is there a simple photo post processing software system that doesn't have a lot of options to learn. All I want to do is crop, lighten-darken, change saturation, and maybe hue. I have used 15 year old Agfa Photowise and I like its simplicity, but cannot find an updated (Windows) version. I have tried to learn GIMP but find it has so many options with masks etc. that it takes a lot of time just to make small adjustments. I am just learning digital. I have experience in 35mm but have not had to do post processing with chromes. Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

For simple stuff I use a combination of DPP and picasa
View NX2 if you shoot Nikon.
I second Picasa. You may never outgrow it, I did eventually, but still find it useful for uploading albums to Google+ and automatically downsizing and emailing photos. Free is good! Eventually, you may want to go to Lightroom as so many here have, including me. Good luck.
It's not free but I love BreezeBrowser. It processes Raw files and has an option to show you where your focus point was at the time of the exposure. I love this type of critiquing.

Try FastStone. It's very easy to use, yet quite powerful program.
Lightzone - free, straight-forward to use, non-destructive....

Windows Media Browser ....Its already on your computer....it does just what you ask (Win 7 onwards)
or The software that came with your camera.Just don't use it all.

To all of you, thank you for your comments and recommendations. I now have my homework assignment. Thanks,

If you have Gimp (free, as you will know) it doesn't mean you have to learn about stuff you won't use. Just find advice on how to do what you want. If you progress and want to do more it'll be there waiting for you. As with any editor you'll have to learn how to do that particular thing and advice is here on the Hog and you Tube is full of it. Just don't think complicated!
DXO optics pro is good as it provides presets which can be viewed before selecting and it does not have layers or masks. It can be simple or complex depending on how you use it, the more you use it the more options you can apply and make your own presets.
