Take Me Out to the Ball Game

I get New York Yankees MVP pass every year for a few games and last year my wife and I visited the new Yankee Stadium for the first time. Loved the MVP event. These pictures were taken with high ISO settings. I wanted to test out the new camera's capabilities and see how much noise it produces in various high ISO settings. As expected it did give a lot of grains but better output than film and using LightRoom's noise reduction I was able to lessen the noise quite a bit. However, as a side effect I lot the sharpness. Well, that's the last time I'll use these extreme ISO settings. All the pictures were taken with Nikon D3S camera with Nikkor 70-300mm f4.5/5.6G FX lens. ISO setting varied from 8000 to 102,400

We were able to get in 5 hours before the game time and were scheduled to watch the batting practice but the heavy rain foiled that. The game itself was 4 hours late and started shortly before midnight.

The next day was the 9th anniversary of our wedding. So I had the Yankees display a special message to my wife on the overhead message board at the Yankee Stadium while we waited not so patiently for the Rain Delay to be over.
The next day was the 9th anniversary of our weddin...

You got some great shots Matthew. Even with a 300mm zoom, you must have had great seats too. I'm not a Yankees fan (Go Twins!) but I'm still jealous. :)

We were 8 rows from the dugout. We actually had 4 Field VIP tickets and were looking for someone to give 2 of them away for free but no one wanted to take them (probably thinking they were fake or that we were some weirdos). So we ended up wasting 2 perfectly good tickets.

BTW, BigDave, Thank you for the compliment. (Go Twins, when they aren't competing against the Yanks) :D

I wish I had been there. I'd love to take my 16 year old nephew (who lives in Minnesota BTW). He's a huge Yankees fan. He and my brother, who's also a Twins fan saw the last major league game in the Metrodome 2 years ago when the Yankees beat the Twins in the one game playoff.

Your son has good taste. :) Well, I'll let you know if I get some extra tickets.
