We have been a custermer of Diect tv for ten years. Our bill kept creeping up over the years, we payed no attention and had the bill paid through our bank account. When we finally caught it we called Direct Tv and got the run around. We dropped them and went to cable. Direct tv called and apologized for our bad experience and offered us some deals. I told them we would come back but my I wanted the cost and monthly cost up front. They told me for these prices I would be under a one year contract. I said ok that will work. The installer just left my house with their equipment. They decided that I needed to pay them $199.00 for a receiver. I told them that was not the deal. They told me that I was under contract and would be charged a cancellation fee. My response was when hell freezes over. Now I have to figure out how to keep them out of my checking account. Any advice here will help. What a piece of crap,of a,company. (Sorry for the missed spellings but I am,pissed, off, and don't care)

Just put a stop payment on the ACH transaction posting to your account. Talk to your bank.

That's too bad about Direct TV. I've been with them since 2002 & have had pretty good service.

I wouldn't give direct TV the time of day,all they are after is money, money, money.Your bill just keeps climbing up and up and they dont tell you anything, also the are very hard to talk to,customer service has a lot to learn. The charge of $40 to get your service turned back on is unbelievable. For what they offer, half the programmes are just rubbish,i'm thinking of getting an outside ariel as I usually only watch the local channels.

Just talk to a friend he told me that he hasn't used cable or dish tv in over a year. He uses internet to watch tv, he tells me that he can watch local news as well as programs. Plus movies. I am going to check it out this week. Has anyone else heard of this.

FYI:
The over the air TV signal transmitted by the local stations is much higher quality than what you can get from any cable or sat provider.

Have Never had Direct TV.... and NOW I have NO cable/satellite at all..

Everything I watch is via the Internet...0 Cost.... well, that isn't totally true, I have netflix and Acorn which equal $13.00 per month...

I can and do watch every single program that I was watching on Dish, ONE DAY after air time. Watch the Cardinals Live, and have hundreds and hundreds of movies available in HD 1080p (whatever that is) Occasionally 4 or 5 of them are less than a couple of months old, but that isn't a problem to me as I basically couldn't care less about the current crop of movies...

I could get an antenna and watch the channels out of Terre Haute, but don't see any necessity to do that..

Mike

I use dish and it cost me 28 bucks a month. Mostly junk channels but they have some that are ok. For my movies I use sites outside the US. Have watched most of the good movies that came out last year and you can watch them in english. Just start them on computer and move them over to the TV. There in HD too!

DIRECTV is worthless, They tried to screw me over several times and still call me from time to time even though I insult them and rant LOL

I only watch NETFLIX these days and am perfectly content.

AT&T is in negotiations to buy DirectTV. So if you think service is bad now just wait.

I agree 100%! We have better TV quality than anyone I know who has cable or satellite. $7.99/month for Netflix and we have all the high-quality TV we need.

As a bonus, it makes it easy to find our house. I tell the pizza delivery guy to just drive down our street and look for the antenna on the roof.

I can feel your pain. I have over the years used Directv, Dish, & Comcast for TV service. Of the 3, I would say that Comcast is the worst, but Directv and Dish are not much better. They all have very poor Customer Service, but of the 3, I would say that Directv has done marginally better then the other 2. None of them ever miss a rate increase the first year even though you supposedly have a contract. There are choices now that allow streaming over the Internet. Look into a Roku streaming system (cost as little as $20.00 for a rebuilt system...check Ebay) to give you lots of free channels as well as access to paid services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Amazon etc. that each sell for between $6. & $9. per month. You will need a fast internet connection to stream without experiencing interruptions (10 mb will do it) It is really a worthwhile change, and it frees you from the irritation of dealing with those cable/satellite jerks.
