Beautiful pictures Bob. Did you know that the blue of the Jay is the only one that is pigment and not reflected light? All other feathers that are blue are that way because they reflect back all but the blue in the spectrum on those particular feathers.

I was not aware of that! I guess that one of the reasons birds are so interesting is that there are so many unusual characteristics relevant to their lives. Thanks for teaching an old dog a new fact and thanks for visiting the site!
