Thanks Bob.... My curiosity accidentally cause me to violate one of my rules... I normally try not to do request in public (use e-mail) because it sometimes gets out of control and I can get flooded by request... I already have too many irons in the fire... :):( (mixed emotions)

The city where I love is a study in opposites - literally within blocks of each other, we have absolutely gorgeous architecture in the Historic District with houses that are kept in pristine condition - and yet a few streets away, things are not so.

The colors of paint on this house remind me of some I have seen in the city of New Orleans, which is why I stopped to photograph it in the first place. And while I did a credible job of bringing out the colors, Lynne looked at it once and said "How tacky! It's a shame they would do that to such a beautiful house.

I have heard the comment here that PP is used to cover up a bad photograph. If anyone is so inclined, you have my permission to download this picture, apply a thick coating of Neon Glow (or any other effect) and upload to this thread. Have fun!

Very interesting to find out that the colors of the house are historical for its architecture. I love funky-looking homes. One reason I like college towns and not ticky-tack developments. For anyone who has young children or grandchildren, I recommend a book that was one of my and my kids' favorites: "The Big Orange Splot" by Daniel Pinkwater.

I don't agree at all. There are books about " Painted Ladies " many Queen Anne homes were very flamboyantly decorated.

Thanks Michael. You'd get along just fine in the neighborhood then.

Yeah, I've heard that Kingmapix. That's probably why a mother Vulture can look at her chick and not kill it outright.

Thanks Karin. And once again we see there are varying opinions among our viewers ....... but I expected that would be the case, so no surprise there.

It is actually pretty nice looking. There are places where it would be considered drab and without flair. The only real issue I have is that the purple and blue don't really blend or compliment each other well.

Perhaps it's meant to be jarring Jerry. If that's the case, it worked!

Architecturally, it is very easy to overdo the "Painted Lady" look on a Victorian.
