I guess the painter ran out of the blue trim and used what he could find,,, ;)

I've know people who would mix all their leftover paint together and use the resulting color. I guess it depends what you are painting.

They are called "Painted Ladys" Victorians liked their color, some can be up to ten different colors applied to different features of the house.
Thanks for the information cmc65. A "Painted Lady" it is then.

I have seen several painted in a similar fashion in some of the small towns that still have these wonderful old Victorian homes. According to all of the pictures I have seen from that era, it was a black and white world. I guess they wanted to all some color to their life!!!

Eye of the beholder, lol. Not quite to my taste, but their house, their paint, and it's still a free country.
Thanks for the comment Randy. And if someone REALLY doesn't like it, they're free not to take its picture, right? Hey, it all works out.

This one looks like some trim painter was having a bad day; having said that I love the photo! :-D
Thanks Jim. I had to come up for air and try a color photo for a change. When I saw the various colors on this house, I thought this might be a perfect opportunity.

The home that I was referring to is not too far from me. We're still in ice and snow around here but if I can get a snapshot of the home from my car I'll try to do that and post it.
Thanks Fergus. I think that's a great idea. Come to find out, this is called a "Painted Lady".

Thanks for the comment rusty nails, although I believe it was more likely his intent to use purple from the git-go.

The city where I love is a study in opposites - literally within blocks of each other, we have absolutely gorgeous architecture in the Historic District with houses that are kept in pristine condition - and yet a few streets away, things are not so.

The colors of paint on this house remind me of some I have seen in the city of New Orleans, which is why I stopped to photograph it in the first place. And while I did a credible job of bringing out the colors, Lynne looked at it once and said "How tacky! It's a shame they would do that to such a beautiful house.

I have heard the comment here that PP is used to cover up a bad photograph. If anyone is so inclined, you have my permission to download this picture, apply a thick coating of Neon Glow (or any other effect) and upload to this thread. Have fun!

I grew up in a Victorian Era home outside Denver, CO. We painted the trim on it varying shades of blue from light to dark. We did not use any purple though.

Doesn't look bad to me...
I thought so too, phlash, but when I showed it to my wife who'd been brought up in the back country of the Carolinas, she reacted quite differently. Vive la difference.

Wow! The design and color looks a lot like a house about a half mile from me... it is right across the street from a well designed and landscape mini park which is about an acre. The next time I go there I'll snap a photo of it... good capture Bob...

Thanks for your comment Andrea. The color scheme you described sounds like it would more to my wife's liking.

Thanks bruce, I'd love to see that photo added to this thread. By the way, can you use Topaz Glow to be a glow on this house, then post the result? I'm curious ......

But it is not blue-- more like aquamarine. If it were blue the purple would clash horribly with it.

Funny, Jerry, that was pretty much Lynne's conclusion as well. She said "It wouldn't be so bad if they'd picked only one of those trim colors, like only the blue."
