Congratulations! Great camera that you will have a lot of fun with. I know I do.
Thank, I'm sure I'll have a blast with it.
James,
I also shoot the D7100, you are going to love it. By all means read your manual. For additional help Nikon has tutorials on their website for the D7100. Also try Utube, there is a ton of them for the D7100. Just be camera brand and model specific.
Have fun with your new toy.

who earns the money in your house . if you both do just take it out of your half . problem solved
Hi James. Two days ago UPS delivered my Nikon D7000. Like you, I let it sit all day to warm up. Then it was kid at Christmas. I, too, read the manual. This is a big step up from my Canon EOS film camera and the Nikon Coolpix I have been using as interim snap shooters. I finally have time to concentrate on good pics. You have fun too.

That's easy to say Bram boy, but I will suffer in the long run.

I sure will, and you have a great time with your new camera too. There will be some learning curve, but it will be well worth it. When I get busy, in learning mode, I lose all track of time. It doesn't bother me but occasionally it annoys my wife some.
Hi jamesl,
Congratulations - and Happy Shooting!
I had my D7100 (with Nikkor 18-140mm VR Lens from
B & H in July 2014. (Refurbished item, but spotless; - looked like "new"). Very pleased with it so far. It's a definite step up from Nikon's 3000 and 5000 series; - I had the D3200 - which I let my daughter have, plus I still have the D5100 that I bought 30 months ago. . . . Just a pity Nikon didn't see fit to build the D7100 with a Vari-angle rear screen.

Danny J
I've had my new 7100 for two monte and I'm just now starting to realize the outer edges of it's potential, Moved up from the 5000 and the learning curve is steep if you really want to climb. My research said that Young's Mastering book was one of the best. One piece of advice is to keep the 7100 manual close by as Young references it regularly and while on a topic using both really helps as I think Young assumes to much at times on some topics. Great buy and enjoy.

One other thing I want to mention is that this site is worth more than all the books and manual for getting specific questions answered. Thanks to all the Hogs !
