Has anyone used a Sony a6000 with a Zeiss 24-70mm zoom lens. Did you think the lens was worth the very high price? Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Sigma makes very good lens for that camera. I own two a6000's with sigma lens. Also consider old manual lens with adapters. You'll have to set f stops and manual focus but the results are good and won't cost over $100'
I don't have the a6000 but the 24-70mm is probably the best zoom I ever owned. It is expensive and heavy. Probably looks funny on a a6000.
On the a7r it is a killer combination in terms of quality and convenience.
I wouldn't get this lens if your a6000 will be your primary camera.
Little overkill if you ask me and you will not like the weight of this lens when you do hiking or street photography

I'm wondering the same thing. I love my a6000, but I'm using it with the kit lens which is just ok.

There are TWO different Sony Zeiss 24-70mm lenses; one in the A mount and the other in the FE mount. ;)
A mountAnd
FE Mount(Click on the links)
The FE mount will fit immediately on the A6000 and be fully functional, whereas the A mount version would require an adaptor. The Sony LA-EA4 would allow the A mount version to be fully and completely functional on the A6000, though the size and weight of the lens would seriously overbalance the camera.

Thanks for the info, Cholly - I didn't know the FE would work without the adaptor!
good point from Cholly.
If you still want this zoom than I would recommend the FE zoom. It is made for the E mount and you can attach it directly to the camera. This is a full frame lens (a6000 is not) and you need to add the 1.5 factor
Weight is about 1/2 of the A mount and the cost is a little over 1K Still expensive but cheap compared with the A mount.

Is the E mount lens overly heavy for the a6000. Several posts upthread talk about how heavy the Zeiss lens is.
The FE 24-70 is not too bad ( I haven't looked at the specs but I think it is about half the weight ) but still looks big compared with the a6000. This lens just came out so there is a good possibility that they are talking about the A mount version.

Thank you all for your wonderful response. I have read that the kit lens is a so-so lens quality wise. I am looking for a alternative choice. "Perhaps" the Sigma 19mm which seems to be great lens for the price (around $200.) -- and then wait for a better alternative to the kit lens when it shows up. Again I'm open to any ideas as to a alternative lens to the kit lens.
Thanks, Morry

A dilemma indeed; do you save your money and buy a high quality lens in the future, or do you buy a cheaper lens now and eventually pick up that quality glass?
I've done both, and let me tell you; once you actually put a really good lens on your camera, you'll never use your so-so lenses again. ;)
I have several Tamrons and Sony SAM lenses collecting dust in my go bag that will probably be sold or traded in for more Sony Zeiss or Sony G glass. ;)
Tough choice because that $200 you put on the Sigma would get you 1/5 the way towards the CZ 24-70mm lens.
