This is true. Lawyers are officers of the court which puts them in the Judicial Branch. For them to serve in the Legislative Branch is a violation of The Constitution.

The word "profit" became a dirty word with all the bull$hit coming from the oil companies. The gas prices are skyrocketing for this reason or for that reason. Nothing but rhetoric! Then you hear, "Record Profits."

Every time the economy starts to recover and get rolling a bit we have these greedy bastards screwing us for "just a little more."

Be it the oil companies, speculators, Wall street or who ever it is. They should be in prison as far as I'm concerned. Whoever it was that deregulated this industry was a moron.
Even though they say no, I bet this is just a way of recouping the money spent to clean up the gulf oil spill!

Well thats one way to make sure the day gets off to a fiery start. Can't wait to track the results of this string. I do agree that most pols are in it for one thing, and that is to have a long term steady job where results are not expected to be high. Big changes need to be made in Washington.

Remember when the Tea Party people were running for office in 2010? They said they weren't going to worry about getting reelected, they were going to go to Washington and stand firm blah blah blah. Look at them now. They're all making compromises in order to get reelected.

If money keeps floating to the top 1%, the rest of us are left with nothing and the bottom falls out. No jobs, nothing. I live in an area the furniture kept afloat for many years and guess what!!! IT LEFT!!! Overseas!!! The unemployment rate here is about 13% with little end in sight!!! I have a job thank goodness but no raise in 3 years; made less in 2009 than the year before - explain that to me!!! No change in pay though...with 2 in post secondary education it's tough.... I could retire in 3 years or less but not if gas keeps going up, tuition increases, health insurance goes up, blah, blah...get rid of the "career politicians"...it's time to clean house... if we don't speak up and hold our reps accountable, nothing will change. Time to get off the soap box...

Government is self-sustaining.

The Energy Commission was formed in 1970's to fix the gas crisis we had.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE ? (caps intended)

No republican now running is going to beat Obama, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the democrats make gains in both the house and senate.

From your lips to God's ears. We need desperately to get a 60-seat majority in the Senate to prevent what has gone on these last two years. Transvaginal ultrasounds, voter suppression, destroying worker's rights, 9-9-9 plans, repealing child labor laws, having students clean toilets, moon colonies, and all the other truly frightening ideas being spouted by the extreme right scare the living crap out of me. I just want the primary season to end so that whomever is chosen to run against President Obama will make the inexorable swing back toward the center and we will see an end to all of this crazy talk.

I totally disagree, and would put quite alot of money on it, that Obama will be not only defeated, but worse so than Jimmy Carter. I have already started to think of a new career for him, but I first had to determine his qualifications. Let's see, he can't be a businessman because he has never even ran a hot dog stand. However there is hope....He could be a travel agent since he has spent hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars scurrying about like a drunk mississippi squirrel.

Absolutely zero!!!! I wonder how many people are aware, and verified by Snopes, we have more oil under American soil than all of the Middle Eastern Countries combined. The article went on to say we could be paying around sixteen dollars a barrel and the oill reserves could last fifty years. I have heard speculation of why we are so dependent on foreign oil, and one of them was an under the table deal where the five major banks were given parts of the oil profits....I seriously wonder about that because there would be H--- to pay if that was proven.....I would love to hear the truth from those who know. Congress needs to explain why we are not drilling on our soil....

Drilling on our soil would result in the death of the spotted grass slug of which there are 4 ( all males ).

The northern oil shale fields are extremely large. But building another oil refinery would lower prices also. We haven't built one for 30 or more years.

The United States is a net exporter of oil. That means the US exports more oil than it imports. Why? Because the oil companies can sell it for more overseas than here in America. Any oil produced by new drilling would would join the oil already being sold to other countries in order to increase oil company profits.

I don't think that's true.

As I stated on another post, we ARE drilling on American soil- drilling has increased 350% since January 2009 (gee, what big event happened that month?), and we are producing 11% MORE oil than we did on that same date. This is after a 15% DECREASE in oil production under the Bush administration.

We still import way more oil than we export. I think you'll find that we have become a net exporter of refined petroleum products, such as gas, not oil. And if I'm not mistaken, that happened last month for the first time, under a President who is supposedly anti-oil. Go figger!!!
