America is in shambles and it started with Bush and the deregulation of the banks. Under the liberal democratic house, America was sinking fast, until we sent Pelosi and Reed packing. Even though I am a Conservative, the new Republican house has done nothing, zero, ziltch to improve America. With the exception of a few, we need to vote out everyone in Congress and certainly Obama and take this country back. It seems when a Congressman gets elected his or her agenda is getting elected, staying in office and getting reelected. America is sinking fast and no one has a clue how to stop illegals, Crime, the financial mess or the corruption.

I think a pre-requisite for anyone to be able to run for a public office of any kind should be to live the life of a middle class person for at least 2 consecutive years before their election. These politicians have never experienced financial hardship (or at least when they run for office they haven't) to care about real people and the interest of real people. They are backed by corporate greed and fueled by the same after they get elected.

I really don't care which party is in office. I care that someone in charge of my country apoligized to someone that harbors terrorists. I care that someone in charge is trying to give away what others work hard for. I care that someone in charge never worked a day in his life. I care that someone in charge is a failed example of ' Give a damn and elect the minority cuz it would be the right thing to do ' I care because I don't want to see an elected official look the other way when Gas Companies go over 20 billion dollars profit. I care because I am intelligent enough to know that you can't give priviliges to illegal trash to solve the problem by making them NOT illegal.

US Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg criticized and labeled outdated the very constitution she is suppose to uphold and protect. Here is what she said, "...would not look to the United States Constitution if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012," Then she added, "Why not take advantage of what there is elsewhere in the world? I'm a very strong believer in listening and learning from others," Really? How does someone that has no respect for the constitution become its defender?

Scubie, I think you are incredibly insulting to make a statement like that. I am a life-long Democrat and care about this country a great deal. I have a different vision than you of what I think America should be, but that doesn't mean I don't care about America.

I'm not going to get into a discussion of what I want for America, but I am not going to insult you or other patriotic conservatives because I disagree with you. You owe a lot of people an apology
for that crass, nasty comment.

Agreed.
I think it's important to consider all points of view on things, even if you generally disagree with those who belong to a different political party or have a different ideology. Neither side has a monopoly on the best people or the best ideas, and to disregard other ideas out of hand does a disservice to our country. In the US, we are allowed to have and share differing ideas. In a totalitarian state there is only one way people are allowed to think and differing ideas are punished. We don't want that to happen in America.

The problem as I see it, is that no matter who we put in office, Republican or Democrat there seems to be no change in the direction we as a nation are heading. I no longer have any faith in the party system. The politicians are loyal to the party not to the people who elected them or America.
One after the other the people in power start wars, foreign and domestic (war on drugs, war on terror etc) and the only result is the spending of money we do not have to spend and the cracking down on the rights of we the people of America. The resulting laws make the federal government more and more powerful and that power is used to control us.
