In October I started working at Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. I am the museum's photographer/ darkroom technician. Yes this job still exists in 2014.

For the last two months I have been making and printing copy negatives from prints. I also have been making contact prints and direct enlargements form glass negatives from the early 1900s.

Here is my workspace

That sounds like an interesting job. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Would they mind of you posted some of your work here?

I miss the darkroom mess- considering the vast number of hours I spent over 40 years down there--you could adjust to a digital approach but the sensitivity of self creation would not be the same-- keep the darkroom hope alive - I am envious

What a great job to fall into. I'll be you don't work a day in you life now. That is based on "find something you love doing and you'll never work a day in your life". In addition, someone else pays for supplies.

How much do you have to pay the museum to keep your job?

I am not sure that it is cool being "The last of a dying breed". Think about it!

Or one of a new breed rather. I'm only 24 and have printing in the darkroom for five years. There has been an increase in interest among many in my generation despite the smartphone crap.

Did you say 24? I had about 15 years in my home darkroom . IF I lived in your neck of the woods I would ask you if you need an assistant at no pay.
