Buy David Busch's book Nikon D750 if it is out yet. Better explanations and I think you will like it!

yep...I'm going to get one. But DB's book is not out yet.

How can multi quoting be done here on UHH? Anyone know?

I've been following this post and I don't see anything wrong with Nikon's menu. I makes perfect sense to me.
I follows a natural order like Windows.

Maybe I'm just as asinine.

No...You're just Nikon Don! I'm "beginner in the Nikon world paul". :)

Hey "beginner in the Nikon world Paul" do you have a specific question or two on the D750?

I've been with Nikon since 1980 something and love it. I now have the D7000, my biggest "change was leaving silver. Once you have the Nikon 'way" down it's easy, even when you change models. Go online and use the tutorials.

I'm sifting thru the mass of info I've been graciously offered. Once I do that and I have further questions I'll surely post them.

The AF system is of biggest concern to me right now.

When I get a new body this is exactly where I start. This can be confusing and only working with it will make it clear. What I do is to carefully read that section, with the camera at hand, and check everything out while i'm reading.

Have any of you folks who have moved from Canon to Nikon found the Nikons to be incredibly NON-intuitive?

I've had My D750 since Friday night and I've not taken a shot with it because I'm so confused about how the damn thing works. The menu system is ridiculously unclear. The back LCD won't stay on so I can see my settings...even formatting a memory card is not as easy as it should be. :(

Any good tutorials out there?

Sounds to me that you have a case of Nikonistis. Usually non-fatal, but expect a lot of pain.

I recommend going through the menu structure from beginning to end, leaving out maybe flash and video until you get interested in those. Anytime you don't understand something, try looking it up in the manual.
That's what I did with my D750. Of course I had the advantage of being a D7XXX user first.

The most potentially confusing sections are the ones on autofocus. There I would read the whole section on AF first. It's really all there in the manual and reasonably clear too. Just not ideally set up for learning.

And one could initially just set the camera to full auto and shoot away.

When all else fails, read the directions. Nikonusa.com has manuals you can download as PDFs. Study them, and try working with one feature at a time until you master them all.

I'm not looking to turn this into a canon vs nikon thread...but trust me...canon is easier to understand. their menu lay out is cleary done. plain english. etc, I can't even find items on the nikon system. Wanna by an un-used D750?

This might be the answer. If you were happier with the Canon then sell the Nikon and move on.
