I use a dell laptop with a 26" Toshiba TV in the PC mode for a monitor. My question is, if I were to buy an Apple laptop could I continue to utilize my Toshiba TV as a monitor? Thanks for your input.

Thanks. I looked in the Apple site and found out that their display is $1,000.

You can get an adapter from Apple, Best Buy, Conn"s, Fry's, Curacao, or any major electronics outlet that plugs into the mini display port on your laptop that has ends for DVI, HDMI, and DVI-D that will connect to your tv.

Are you able to color calibrate the TV for brightness and RGB levels the way a real quality monitor can be calibrated with a "puck" and software from X-rite or Monaco?

You could your old monitor with the appropriate adapter, but you might not like it. IMHO, the Apple Retina display is stunning, and it will out-perform a 26" TV in both color and resolution.

Yes the Apple monitors are expensive. They are high quality but they are expensive. With a little research and shopping you can get the same quality for less.

By the way, you may want to consider investing in a new 4K monitor to go along with that MPB. There are several out that are reasonable in price and could make great image editing monitors.

Just out of curiosity, why are you considering buying an Apple if you are currently using a Dell Laptop?

FYI there was a UHH thread in Sept 2014 on the subject of Monitors. It's located at:
