I went through the process when I wanted to downsize from my 7D. I travel a lot which provides plenty of opportunity for photography and I was getting a bit tired of carrying my gear around (normally 7d and 17-55 2.8 with 10-22 Canon lenses)
I chose the Fuji XT1 which I love. The only problem is the focus in lowish light. While taking snaps of my 8 month old grandson, I was so disappointed with the response time and missed shots that I picked up my trusty DSLR and could take photos when I wanted.
Note also a good lens on the XT1 ie the 17-135, will make it a reasonable sized unit, although still a lot smaller than the DSLR.
My solution? I will be taking both setups on my next trip, not really solving my weight problem!

It is a rather general statement and I stand by it. There are some very good systems out there but none have the selection of bodies and lenses that the better DSLR systems have.
I know too many pros and experienced shooters who have gone to mirrorless and later back to DSLRs. I'm not ready to commit.
But those who use MFT that I know of stay with them.

Yes. And, in all fairness, some of those I know who did come back to DSLRs kept all or part of their mirrorless systems.
I am going to the southern Mexican coast, Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca, in a couple of days. I am a die hard Canon DSLR shooter, but I am only taking my NEX-6 with 16-50 PZ lens as it is very small, people don't get intimidated with the little toy camera. I kept going back and forth about taking my Canon equipment or not. One other reason that I am not taking the big boy is that I feel that I will reduce the danger of being mugged/robbed for the camera although this will be my third visit to Oaxaca in a little over a year and it is extremely safe compared to some other parts of Mexico. However, for runway shows, parties, etc. I will usually use the Canon although I did use the NEX-6 for a wedding shower and the pics turned out great, up to beautiful 13x19 inch enlargements that hit the mark. So, you can have both and use both as needed.

What is your favorite lens for your Sony camera? I'm using my a6000 with the same small 16-50 PZ lens and am considering the Zeiss 16-70 which unfortunately is expensive and much larger.

Oaxaca is a beautiful area. Is there still an undeclared civil war going on in Tuxla Guiterrez?
My Nikon gear is gathering dust as I haven't used it in about 2 years. I got the SONY NEX7 (no longer mfd) and it's follow up the a6000. GREAT results; read some of the reviews, especially dpreview, as they show IQ of many different cameras.
