I realized that but it was just my way to evoke a smile. That residential building is just crazy and given the location I guess the rents reflect the same. If I get the chance I'd like to visit it in person. Maybe in the spring.

Somewhere along the line I acquired a lensbaby 3g which I think has tilt capability and might fall into that gimmick category with regards to price ... and the technique category as well. I have not tried that lens at all.

how is tilting to focus on a specific point in a photo for the desired effect any different than shooting wide open for a very narrow depth of field any different. you are merely utilizing an ability the particular lens has to achieve a desired outcome.

The tilt exaggerates the amount that is out of focus - much more than just using a larger lens opening. Besides if you are using a wider angle lens, you will never be able to get that effect at any distance, even if your lens was F1.0, you would still have too much depth of field.

Check this article out and you will immediately see that you cannot do those images with aperture alone
