Woah, I did not know that.
All reviews (including video ones ) that I've seen, are just praises for the Tammy 150-600mm.

*edit*
I googled again and there is not a single hit regarding the Tamron 150-600mm having a recall of any sort.

I would put my faith in MT, he's in that business and if anyone has the inside scoop, he does. Never seen anything but the best advice in the kindest terms from him.

Allright.

I was wondering as I was looking for a zoom like the Tamron 150-600mm once I upgrade to FX.

I suppose I should just wait for the Sigma Contemporary best?

The lens has never been recalled from individual owners. Three weeks after it was released ALL "unsold" inventory on dealer shelves and warehouses was pulled from the market and returned to Japan due to AF issues. 6 weeks later the lenses were returned to the US, with no corrections made to them, and sales resumed at that time. Anyone experiencing AF issues will need to return the lens to Tamron, at your expense, to have the firmware upgraded and make the AF function correctly. It is my understanding that the vast majority of issues were seen on the Canon 7D and 1D models, but issues have been reported on other brands and models in smaller numbers.

good catch!

I found this video which explains the issue that plagued the first version of the Tamrons.

I'm now worried about buying the Tamron. As I Live in Mexico and there is not exactly the best way to get support for semipro and pro photography gear.

Nice pictures. Hate seeing a flag flown in that condition. Needs to be properly retired.

I wonder how the contemporary will do against the proven Tammy.

Donb: how rugged you felt the Sports version?
Built to last?

It's a tank.

Don You need to help the folks that own that flag. It has been beaten up really bad.

That's what 40MPH winds will do here in Chicago.

UPS just brought this "little" jem today. It's cold and real windy in Chicago today but here are a few shots anyway. None have been retouched.

Don it is nice to see someone else goes out and shoots garbage cans with their new lens like I do. I have found there is always a abundance of garbage cans and pot holes in my neighbor hood to practice on.

If it is anything like the last two Sigma lenses that I purchased (and it looks like it is) you have a winner. First good day Don, get us some good long shots and post them. I will look forward to that!

Gotta shoot what you have. Haven't cropped anything yet. Those were the first images out of the box.

You are going to do a micro focus adjust - aren't you ??

Yes, eventually.
I.M. If you talking about A/F fine tune, could you explain the procedure for a long zoom like this, outdoors. Kind of windy today. Minimum focus distance with this is around 10 feet. What distance would you recommend?

If that is the Sports model with the USB dock there are a lot of ways to program the lens. Lens Rentals gives a good description of what you can do here - http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/06/sigma-120-300-f2-8-os-sport-part-1-features-and-optics - I would calibrate it at a distance and focal length you think most of your shooting will be - like maybe 50 feet. Keep us posted on your progress....
