I just ordered the third edition of 'Understanding Exposure" in hopes that it gives me an insight to; "What lens do I use to photograph UFOs"? With my luck that answer isn't in the third edition. Can't wait to receive it.

Hahah...you are right...it's just basic communication skills.

Sometimes, especially if/when I spend some time looking for a good answer to a question, I would really like to know if my suggestion(s) was/were used, and if so, how it worked out.
But there communication skills also seem to be lacking. Sometimes there's a response along the lines of 'I'll try that' and then nothing more.
I'm not looking for recognition or a 'thank-you' - just a 'that did/didn't help' or a further question - to which I'd be happy to find a further answer if I can.

A much better book is "Misunderstanding Exposure".
Although some find the information within confusing and possibly even inaccurate, it gives people a reason to come in here and post annoying questions which will generate even more annoying responses.
It's a win/win for everybody. :D

I'm afraid I also guilty. A friendly nudge is always welcome. This reminds me, I better get to those responses I've received here to my posts. Thanks!

I'm good at giving reminders and/or friendly nudges - just ask my grandkids ;-) What they don't like is the increasing sound volume of my voice with each nudge....
But don't fear, you're not my grandkids. And oh, my, the oldest of those three is 12 today, and it was only yesterday I was walking down the sidewalk with him toddling beside me!

It seems to me that my grandkids are growing up faster than my children did. Just a suggestion; keeping that camera close at hand, each moment is precious.

I only have one grandchild and I am following her around with my camera now.

It seems the older I get, the more difficult it is to catch them, let alone follow them too closely. The older they get the more they test my ability to keep up with them too. I'm continually being asked "Grandma, aren't you tired of taking pictures yet?" or "Grandma you're gonna run out of pixels if you don't give that camera clicker a break." God love them. They're what keeps me on my toes.

Enjoy, they're only young for a short amount of time.
