I dont shoot RAW...but from what I have read on here...if you want to shoot in a high fps then you cant shoot RAW because camera can not process the RAW images quick enough...but then again I could be blowing out my !#%$^%^

you can shoot RAW when shooting but you are limited in your burst mode (fps=frames per second) on my Canon 40D can shoot 6fps but only for abt 11 frames then the buffer fills up and reduces fps to abt 1 then wont let me shoot until buffer clears, in jepg I can get 25-30 before buffer fills but I dont just hold down the shutter I count to myself 1,2,3 until I get what I need then quit shooting.

Have you tried the Extreme Pro compactFlash Cards or the Extreme Pro. It will give you a faster transfer speed

If you're shooting sports on a tight deadline, such as for a daily newspaper, you might want to shoot jpg to save yourself the time it takes to convert the RAW images.

But I began shooting in the days of film, and you learned to get the shots you needed without shooting 6+fps bursts. At that rate I would have had to change film every 36 seconds. That gets a bit pricey. LOL

I always shoot in RAW for better PP options. I never had buffer issues with my camera so far. However, it may depend on the particular camera's processing speed and also the file transfer rate on the memory card.

As "lovesscrapn" mentioned some memory cards/HDs like Extreme Pro compact Flash Cards will give you a much faster data transfer rate than others. I had used cheaper compact flash cards in the beginning and got some photos to have "Unexpected end of file error". But my recently purchased 128GB SanDisk Extreme Pro™ CompactFlash cards write files at 100MB per second and I never had buffering or file errors on these cards. Every now and then I use the old cards and I get file errors in about 10 percent of the files when shooting in burst mode. By the way, I use my two cards as RAID (my 2nd card is used as a backup of the first).

I also agree with BigDave. If you are on a tight schedule try shooting in Jpg mode (or in Tiff mode if you don't want any Jpg markers ruining any shots). However, in Tiff mode you may have the same buffering issue as Tiff files are uncompressed or lossless compressed and are huge in size.
