Great sky!! Try cropping the clam so that it is in the bottom 1/3 rather than the top... it just doesn't feel right to me to be up so high...but, that's just me. Nice job on finding subjects.

I love this forum. I'm sittin' here thnkin' the same thing as Clay2. Yesterday, I submitted a shot of a merganser coming in for a landing. They make their final approach at about 60 miles per hour and toss their butts at the water and slice through the surface coming in for a landing. I wanted to try to show the act of landing and put my bird on the short side of the frame for the direction of travel leading out of the shot. It went on into last night how the bird needed to be back on the front side of the frame slidin' into the picture and on, and on...

I love how it depends on who responds, what you get. Ladies are more flexible with the rules generally and will overlook rule bending which is not the normal tendency of ladies, IMHO, and men are more non-negotiable, an observation of those in here at least.

Here, you've obviously got a fast moving clam who is headed at break-neck speed toward the short side of the frame and is about to run right out of the frame and you ladies think it's marvelous. Wait'll the men get in here. That'll all change. That clam is obviously headed for a disaster any minute now, or perhaps any day. :)

By the way, it's a very nice shot.

so funny... I Saw your photo of the Merganser and I actually liked it the way you presented it.... Obviously it does not follow the rule but heck any one who knows birds can see it was landing and it was beautiful! loved it.

Wow, I have to agree with Clay on this one. Cropping with the clam in the bottom third of the photo would be a nice composition.... the coloring of the rocks and clam and the absense of a lot of glare on the water really make this a good photo. I love anything associated with the beach and ocean. As for the poor clam, he probably will end up on someone's plate. You did good.... and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
