Lots of SX50 HS users here, but any SX40 HS users? What is better about the 50, except the slightly better zoom capability?

There are several of us that still use the SX40. The Sx50 has several additional features that may be of some use to you but were not important enough to get me to upgrade. The SX50 will shoot in raw as well as JPG (or both). It can use a remote shutter release and has a newer and presumably better image processor. If you're considering upgrading from the SX40 to the SX50, you probably should consider skipping the 50 and getting the just released SX60. ....... Coot

The SX40 has a larger max aperture. To me, that outweighs the longer zoom. And, with CHDK, it will save RAW images as the SX50 does.

40 doesn't shoot raw, and less ISO settings among other things!

No, sorry to say, it does not, I believe the 50 does shoot Raw though.

I had the SX40 but upgraded to the SX50. It has RAW capability and a tilt screen. Those were both very important to me. I love it!

The SX40 has the same fully articulted LCD as the SX50. ..... Coot
