The Sigma "Sports" and "Contemporary" models are two VERY different lenses. The contemporary will be about the same price as the Tamron.

I would go after the Sports model.....

Hopefully there are still some leaves to shoot when it gets to you Don.

Yea, more likely piles of that "white stuff." We'll see. I'm sure the guys who can order a pallet full of them might get a "leg-up" on the release.

Well MT. If the responses to this thread are any indication of how many have been pre-ordered, I should have mine next week and I will still have green trees here, mostly.
I think there were maybe 4 to 6 positive responses and I thank those "Hoggers" with the "stones" to chime in.
As far as the rest, who think it's a "BIG" secret; Grow-up and keep it to yourself, Who Cares!

Don, I pre-ordered with B&H around the third week of Sept. About a week ago I received an e-mail from them saying that the lens was not in yet and that they didn't know when it would be in. Did you order from B&H, and if so did you get the same e-mail from them?

jkm, I ordered mine early last week from B&H and Adorama as soon as I heard about the pre-order. They will both notify me before they ship as I have deposits. Adorama sent me an email about it being backordered. Nothing from B&H. Whomever notifies me first will get the sale.

The problem with pre-ordering from either of those stores is that they close for Jewish holidays and are both closed until October 19th. The Sigma release date is October 15th. BIG backlog probabilities with both of them I think.

If you don't want opinions, don't ask for them!

Webster's gives an excellent definition of statement, as well as of opinion.

I was going to pre-order from both, but at the time that I pre-ordered, I wasn't sure which version of the lens (contemporary or sport) Adorama was listing. The specs they listed were for the contemporary but the price was for the sport. Very confusing. What isn't confusing is that I'm giddy with anticipation for the arrival of my new lens, when ever that may be.

If my pre-ordered lens is in the first shipment that B&H receives, I'm not going to sweat the four day delay in shipping for the observance their holiday.

Yea, me too. I'm hoping (with fingers crossed.) When I got on Adorama's list the other day they said there was 12 ahead of me. One can only hope that they get 13. Oh Crap! That makes me lucky 13.
It'll probably come cracked as UPS used it for kicking practice(as my R3000 did last year.) LOL!

Ouch! Maybe I should hope for delivery from FedEx.
