The most difficult aspect of being a photographer is the cost of equipement. I blow-up another Nikon SB-800 strobe and I have to spend hundreds right away for another one. Lens, well, you get what you pay for. Sometimes the lens is more important that the camera. Any attachment on a lens will cut the light into the camera. I will also not be as sharp. Cost is a problem so It's your call. Good luck.

I have a Nikon D3100. The lens that came with it is aNikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6g VR
I also have a Nikon DX AF-S NiKKOR 55-300mm 1:4.5-5.6G ED VR.
