The photo brings back memories of a time I spent in Maine in 1985 working for Red Cross Disaster Services after Hurricane Gloria struck. I worked in Lewiston and the flooding was devastating. We worked 19 days straight before a day off and seveal of us went to the coast for the day.... the peace and serenity was amazing and you have captured that feeling beautifully. Ty for posting it.

You are most welcome. It is one of my all time favorites and I will eventually get around to posting a few more from that series. It was a good morning.

Ogunquit Beach, Maine. 5AM. Just sunrise, no HDR, no editing except to reduce for upload.
Beautiful....a once in a lifetime opportunity...with this the reward and memory!

With a reminder: True, the sunrise was made by God, but the opportunity was made by me. I was on vacation in Maine. I had to set an alarm clock to wake me up at 4 in the morning and then haul my camera and my aging butt to the beach, about a half a mile's walk in the chilly pre dawn hours. My husband thought I was nuts. NOTHING would have gotten him up at that hour. Especially not on vacation.
I don't know many people who would actually do it. There are always sunrises. There just aren't so many people who are there, ready to capture them.
I didn't just happen to be there: I planned it and made sure I was there. Had the camera, battery charged, clean SD card and all.
Sure photo ops do just happen sometimes, but more often, we have to put ourselves there. If I had said "Hey, I'm on vacation, I'm not getting up at 4am so the mosquitoes can try to eat me whole" and rolled over and dawn would have come and gone without any pictures being taken.
So back to that first real rule of photography:
You have to be there with the camera.
Wherever "there" may be.

excellent comments...no telling how many amazing shots each of us miss because we did not make an effort to be there to take them.
