Big Bend National Park
I'm new to UHH and this is my first post. I became interested in photography many years ago in the file era, but didn't do a lot. In the past couple of years, I began shooting in digital, and last year began learning PP using LR and PS. After viewing the good works posted on UHH, I realize I've got a lot to learn. Attached are photos I shot last year in Big Bend National Park. (I hope I sized then correctly). All shots were hand held using a Canon 7d with a Canon 17-85 lens. All comments and suggestions on how I can improve any aspect of my shooting and PP are welcomed.

VERY, very nice images. B/W is my favorite. I'd say you were off to a great start. We learn by doing. Keep on shooting; and post more B/W. Thanks
Stargazer, thanks for the encouragement. During the film era, I had a darkroom and B&W was all I did. When I started in digital I did more color until my wife said how much she enjoyed B&W over color. Now I do both.
So many people just don't realize how beautiful the Big Bend area is... Been years since I first visited there, but never forgotten it...
Glad to see you did them in B/W as that area is not "colorfull" to begin with...
Very good shots...
Thanks donrent. There are a few times when it can be interesting in color, especially at sunrise and sunset. I shot one of the Window right after two days of high winds. The dust in the air created a great sunset. I may post in a day or two.

Thanks for the brilliant flashback! My husband and I spent our honeymoon there 34 years ago this week. (Oh, we were so young, adorable and madly in love!) The only photos I have of Big Bend were taken with a Polaroid, so maybe it's time to revisit that majestic part of Texas!

Great B&W's
nice shot, but color film isn't expense anymore..lol
Glad you enjoyed. I've visited many times in the last 37 years. If you go back to the National Park, you may also go want to visit Big Bend Ranch State Park. Roads are rougher, so not as easy to get around as the Nat'l Park, but really beautiful.

Great captures Lou and welcome to the hog; Keep posting I love these and want to see more. :-D
Outstanding! love the details in your shadows. How far would this be from Dallas? Would it make for a nice week's vacation?
I have a niece in Del Rio that I may visit soon as well.
Mike...I think it is about 500-600 miles from Dallas area taking IH 20 until you reach Monahans then go south through Ft. Stockton continuing south through Marathon on to Panther Junction park entrance. The lodging in the park is in Chisos Basin. Suggest you make reservations well in advance, because it is a popular site. It's a long drive, but well worth it.
Mike....Missed part of your question regarding a weeks vacation. Yes it would, especially considering the long drive each way. A stop in Del Rio may be a welcome break. Hwy 90 from Del Rio to Marathon then south to Panther Junction. If you are there for a week, a drive to Terlingua, then Lajitas and then on to Persidio is a nice day trip along the Rio Grande river with nice views and interesting things along the way.
