I didn't know they would have this much red in their fur.

These were shot in the Autumn in Yellowstone and at that time their fur is PRIME. It is the best they look all year. In the spring they are pretty shabby.

Hi irrigator: Love the images of the Coyotes! In the first set of the 3 images you posted, I like the 2nd one the best! I love the way you framed it and yes, makes a great portrait! I like the one that this reply is being posted with also. This would also make a great framed print! I love the colors of these critters. Are these their natural vibrant colors, or a little help in PP? Either way, they're great images! Congrats to you!

That is pretty much how they look in the fall. Very little work done on these. A little sharpening and contrast is about it.

He is the same Coyote in the two framed shots. He was quite a character. I think if I had left the door opened to the car he would have got in with us. I got out & shot him in the snow and he was just playing and having a good time. He was trying to pry something out of the road to eat. Someone had left a cookie and it was frozen to the road and he had to gnaw on it to get it loose. I have another shot of him near a stop sign that is pretty cool. The park has it for a safety brochure. He came real close to getting hit by a car running a stop sign while I was shooting him. a lot of animals in Yellowstone get killed by speeders.

Adorable shot of him! Good thing you were there when the car ran the stop sign.....just in case! He would have got in your car, huh? Well, sounds like you could have gone home with another pet. LOL !!! :) I'm sure he would have appreciated a very nice, warm home to be in, not to mention regular meals! LOL !! :-) Me personally, I like the wolves, but these are very photogenic creatures too!

We came out of our cabin one morning and there was a coyote sitting on the front steps. It was about 10 degrees and he was frozen. It was near the Snow Lodge @ Old Faithful and I think people had been feeding him. Not good. Most likely did not survive the winter. Yellowstone is very very unforgiving.
