I have a D5300 and a D7000. Both have been wonderful cameras.

I have a D7000 and a D90. Love them both. No problems with either. They both have the drive motor built into the camera body like your D70. This means that you can use the older autofocus lenses and they will autofocus on the camera. The older lenses can be picked up for a pretty good price.

The D7000 will meter-couple with the AI lenses. You still have to manual focus, but don't have to use a hand-held meter or guess at the exposure. I have found that the metering is right on with the AI lenses I still have from my film days.

Hi, I am new to this group and very impressed with the depth of knowledge here. I am wanting to buy a new camera to replace my trusty old D70 and have been reading a lot to determine what to buy. I have read a lot of complaints about Nikon's so called lack of quality control, particularly the D7000 and even some on the D7100 (both serious candidates). Is this truly an issue now or is this some isolated complaints? A lot of which seem to involve lack of timely response/service. I'm getting to old to "waste" what time I have to get stuck with a camera that I can't use for six months or a year. Is this something to worry about? Secondly do the popular camera sources handle these problems or do I have to work with Nikon service?? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I've had the D7000 for over 2 years now and have not had any issues with it. 2 of my friends that had to deal with service on their cameras (due to dropping them, not defects) received prompt service and were quite happy. I know that everyone may not be so lucky, but that is the only experiences I have to judge by.

First- where are you? Fill out your Profile- at least listing Country, or region. Complaints on service were from South Africa. How can we respond if we don't know your location. Every country has different issues and work arounds.
