Okay photobuddies...I am taking the plunge and posting 3 of my favs. Let me know what you think :?:

Your third photo is really good. It's one of those special photos where the rule of thirds doesn't apply. The couple on horses, placed in the middle, instantly draws your attention and holds it. There are no distracting elements in the photo. Great job.
Agree with you that the attention draws your eye it give a very peaceful feeling great photo like the theres also

You've done a good job of conveying that feeling. Post more. :)

Thanks Bob and Blondie. I was a little concerned about having them smack-dab in the center, but the peacefulness of the forest is exactly what I was looking for. I want people to "feel" how I feel in the woods, when they look at my photos.

The photo I like most is the one of the Elk. Now there is only one thing I kind of don't like about it... The focusing. It appears that the hind quarters of the Elk is in focus but the rest is soft. It would have been better if the focus was done on the head of the elk. If auto focus was used, you can change which focus point to be active and then focus with that.

Lexatgo, I so agree! I am still working on this. I do use auto focus and I tend to use a shallow depth of field when I probably should have bumped that up a bit. I get so excited when I find a great subject in the wild, that I forget the important stuff!

They are all beautiful, but my favorite is the elk in the woods.

That is what I try to communicate when I do photos too. I don't always follow the "rules", and I have even taken a pic or 2 and blended them, or built a complete collage when I have a pic that looks plain by itself, but it makes a nice background for a particular theme.

LOL, my wife and I already ate that bass last summer. Sorry we didn't save any, but on the bright side, we can always go out for more. :-D

In my opinion I think you cropped the Elk too much.
I love the trees off to the right so I just cropped it slightly. I did lighten up his head so you can see his face, I darkened the foliage some and I darkened his back just a little.
So in my opinion I like it much better this way :)
Isn't it grand that there are so many different opinions so we can have different photo's out of just 1 photo :-)

I like the vibrancy of this elk after you edited it. Are you using photo shop, or paint shop pro?

I use Paintshop Photo Pro X3, and 4. Nice rich definition.
