If the subject of the first image is the hat I would crop it something like the attached image. It is an interesting image ahd the background helps tell the story, in my opinion.

Thanks Jonsund! You are so right! Although I like the color in the foliage, it is distracting.

Oh, and I like it much better without the leaf in the right hand corner. I wasn't sure how to get rid of that without interfering with the composition.

The Moose image can also use some cropping to emphasis the subject of the image. (Again, my opinion) I have included two crops to consider.
I did lighten the image slightly to get more detail in the head, but the bright back limits the amount you can push the entire picture. If you have the software you could most likely lighten the shadows and improved the detail in the head.
Now, if you can get the moose to move into the sunlight and your side of the tree branch . . . . (Wildlife can be uncooperative and they will not change their pose just to suit the photographer's needs)

Absolutely Love Them...the one behind the horses is my favorite...Great Shots!
Again, I like your crop #1. Cropping is an area that I need practice in, and I have noticed (I think) because I am left handed, my eye doesn't always go to the golden mean.
I have PS CS5, but only know the basics. I start a class at the local college in October.
Thanks again for your input. It's really appreciated.

LOL! You are so right Leosdaddy! We live nearby the Elk Preserve in Cattaloochee Valley (near Maggie Valley, NC)They have been re-introducing the elk there since around 2001. (as for the "moose" I didn't even catch that! DUH?)
moose or elk.... either way the point is the same.:)

Your third photo is really good. It's one of those special photos where the rule of thirds doesn't apply. The couple on horses, placed in the middle, instantly draws your attention and holds it. There are no distracting elements in the photo. Great job.

Thanks Bob and Blondie. I was a little concerned about having them smack-dab in the center, but the peacefulness of the forest is exactly what I was looking for. I want people to "feel" how I feel in the woods, when they look at my photos.
